As someone who grew up on East Coast, cable knit sweaters have always felt like a wardrobe staple. If you’ve ever spent a fall afternoon by the ocean, you know there is no such thing as too many cable knit sweaters.
They are cozy, timeless, and perfect for those crisp fall mornings & those chilly winter days, and of course, those breezy days all year long when living along the coast.

Rory Gilmore Sweater by Gia (FREE)
The Rory Gilmore sweater is a beautiful spin on the legendary sweater that Rory wears in Gilmore Girls. The sweater is knitted up in an worsted or Aran weight yarn. It is knitted up using US 9 (5.5mm) & US 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles.
An oversized sweater perfect for a denim skirt and some loafers or straight leg denim and sneakers. A great addition in your wardrobe for chilly fall days.

The Cara Sweater is a beautiful cable knit sweater knit up in a DK weight yarn. Its knitted up using US 2 (3mm) & US 6 (4mm) knitting needles. This pattern contains different knitting techniques like cables, increases & tubular bind off.
A slimmer cable knit sweater perfect for those chilly fall walks with your kids to the playground or going on a date on a harbourfront.
Shoreline Sweater by Ozetta
The Shoreline Sweater is a beautiful cable sweater that depicts the waves of the water. Knitted up using 2 strands; lace & sport. By combining these 2 yarns together, creates a DK weight sweater. It is knitted up using US 8 (5mm), US 7 (4.5mm), US 5 (3.75mm), and US 3 (3.25mm). Some of the knitting techniques used in this pattern is German short rows, cables, increases & decreases, and Italian bind off.
A less ‘obnixous’ cable knit sweater, perfect for those who don’t like a chunky/thick cable sweater. Perfect for chilly fall and spring morning check ins on the garden.
The Folklore Cardigan by The Lion Brand (FREE)
The Folklore cardigan is a spin off of Taylor Swifts cardigan from well… ‘cardigan’. This sweater is knitted up with a worsted weight yarn, while using US (). The knitting pattern uses techniques like cables and increases & decreases.
I knitted up this cardigan and I altered somethings to how I prefer, like doing Italian bind off. This sweater is one of my favourites, I am always reaching for it.
Billie Pullover by Sari Nordlund
The Billie Pullover is a sweater knitted up in a worsted weight. It is knitted up using US 6 (4mm) & US 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles. This pattern consists of knitting techniques like cables and increases & decreases.
Another beautiful cable sweater featuring the honey comb detail along the front & sleeves of a sweater. This sweater is very similar to the Cara sweater, however it does offer some different cable knit stitches throughout the garment. Another great sweater to add to your wardrobe for the chilly fall & winter days out in the snow.
Maisie Cardigan by Emily Y Chen
The Maisie Cardigan is knitted up holding 2 strands of yarn together; lace & fingering. By combining these 2 yarns, creates a sport weight yarn. It is knitted up using US 5 (3.75mm) & US 4 (3.5mm). This pattern consists of knitting techniques like cables, backward loop cast on, and increases & decreases.
This cable knit cardigan is less on the bulky side and more so a delicate knit sweater.
Fisherman Cardigan by Filocana (FREE)
The Fisherman Cardigan is knitted up using a Aran weight yarn. It is knitted up using US 6 (4mm) & US 2 1/2 (3mm) knitting needles.
This cardigan is less form fitting to less than the previously mentioned sweaters, offering a more boxy feel to the sweater.
All these knit sweaters truthfully are perfect for all year round, especially if you live along the north atlantic ocean. I can’t wait to start tackling my fall and winter knitting projects.
