5 Sewing Patterns You Need to Sew This Fall

Sharing is caring!

Fall is on the horizon. Do you know what this means? It’s time to plan your fall sewing projects.

As most people (I think), fall (or autumn), is my favourite season. Maybe it’s because of my birthday.. or maybe it’s simply because I LOVE the cozy seasons. A cozy season means listening to Noah Kahan and creating a cozy piece to make, whether it’s sewn or knitted up.

I love creating cozy pieces and wanted to share not only what I have planned to make this season, but also fall sewing projects you can also tackle.

Check out my blog post on 5 knitting projects to knit up this fall, too!

5 Fall Sewing Projects to Sew this Fall

Let’s quickly discuss the inspiration behind these patterns. I went to my best friend (Pinterest) and asked for her help, and she did not disappoint.

I wanted to find patterns would work well with layering. If I’m completely honest, being in style or out of style isn’t whats important to me. I love curating my own style and wearing clothing that I know I can be comfortable in.

I adore this season. It’s when the temperatures start to drop which means you can finally enjoy creating outfits.

What do I mean by that? Layering. I love layering my clothes.

And you’ll notice that with some of these fall sewing projects.

There are so many patterns of this style dress that it was hard to pick just one. This particular dress caught my eye because it was meant to be more form fitting in the bust, & doesn’t have such a drastic drop in the bust like many others like this.

To be completely honest, I actually purchased the pattern and made 2 dresses from this pattern; a mini & midi. While I did alter the pattern slightly, I did enjoy sewing this dress.

If you’re a beginner, you may have a more difficult time as the instructions weren’t entirely clear, BUT the creator of this project does have a tutorial on her TikTok.

The Camp Coat by Larae Handmade

Barn jackets are back! I mean, if I’m completely honest, they never were gone for me.

I chose the camp coat for a few reasons.

First off, the creator of the pattern offers a bundle for children & adult sizes! Hello, matching family jackets? Yes please.

Second, the various sizes of pockets & collar offer that extra cozy feeling. For example, I can imagine Noah Kahan wearing a camp coat. Those type of cozy vibes. While I haven’t made an attempt yet to make this pattern, I’ll be for sure adding this to my personal list.

The Lane Pants by Sydney Graham

I know, I know. The lane pants are everywhere… but we are finally entering a season again where wearing pants means you’re not going to sweat buckets. So therefore, the lane pants need to be mentioned.

What I enjoy about the lane pants is that she offers multiple different ways to make the waist; draw string or elastic waist.

This pattern is also considered a cargo pant, and what better season to wear cargo pants then fall? Imagine, your lane pants AND camp coat styled in one outfit. I can envision it now.

The Garden Blouse by Fruxstudio

Techically, this pattern is a dress. However, she also offers it as a blouse. So you could make the blouse or the dress.. or heck, just make both!

Now, what grabbed my attention about this pattern was the pin tucks. I love the detail on the top, and have been seeing this detail more through my Pinterest feed.

I myself, am planning on making the long sleeve blouse version this fall.

The Ines Dress by Just Patterns

Truth be told, I am obsessed with this paneled dress. It would be a great choice for any season, however, with the panels it gives the dress a little bit more structure. Therefore, I can see this dress being made from some beautiful denim.

The great thing about dresses is that you can style them to wear throughout the year.

I can’t wait to start tackling my sewing plans for fall! I hope you enjoy this season of sewing (and maybe knitting?!).

Happy creating & don’t forget to have fun.
